We're Hiring: Java Tech Lead

Astra ICT is looking for a hands-on Java Tech Lead who can combine strong backend engineering skills with technical leadership, clear communication and responsibility for successful delivery. This position is for someone who still enjoys working close to the code while helping a team make good technical decisions and deliver consistently. What you'll do Lead the technical delivery of Java 21 and Spring Boot solutions. Translate business requirements and specifications into clear technical work. Guide API design, microservice boundaries, integrations and data access. Establish development, testing, security and code-quality standards. Review code and technical designs and help resolve complex engineering problems. Mentor developers and support their technical growth. Coordinate technical dependencies, risks and delivery decisions. Work with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure and/or AWS. Improve CI/CD and infrastructure automation with Jenkins and Terraform. Promote effective testing using Karate, Postman and JMeter. Maintain quality and security controls using Sonar and Snyk. Introduce AI-assisted and specification-driven workflows with appropriate review, testing, traceability and human accountability. What we're looking for Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot and microservices. Previous responsibility for leading a development team or technical workstream. Good architectural judgment and the ability to explain trade-offs. Experience with REST, OpenAPI/Swagger, JPA and SQL. Practical knowledge of containers, Kubernetes and cloud platforms. Self-driven and dependable working style. Excellent stakeholder communication and business-fluent English. Strong team mentality and an agile approach to delivery. This is a technical leadership role. It is not purely project management, and candidates should be comfortable remaining involved in engineering decisions and implementation.
